Pattern change possible next week

It looks like we are still about a week out from any possible shift in the pattern that has left Tahoe dry for all of December. But there’s hope.
Two systems forecast to take shape in the Pacific Northwest early next week appear to be on track to at least make it to Northern California. The first one would be on Monday and would be the weaker of the two. It seems likely to just brush the Sierra on its way east. The second one, around Wednesday, looks stronger and could bring precipitation to the Sierra. But we have seen these glimmers before only to be disappointed as the storms broke apart or went elsewhere as they approached. So it is far too early to bank on it.
Still, having something out there in the Pacific to keep our eye on is better than nothing, which is the way it’s been for most of the month.
Stay tuned for updates as the forecast develops.
