Cold overnight temperatures have allowed two Tahoe ski resorts to open, at least for now. Mt. Rose will be open for the weekend. Boreal reopened Friday and hopes to remain open now for the season. As long as we don’t get another monsoon before it snows. For an update on where our first big storm might be, see our Weather Geek page.
Tahoe Vista fundraiser to fight development, traffic

The Friends of Tahoe Vista and the Tahoe Area Sierra Club are hosting a dinner and fundraiser at the Blue Agave Restaurant in Tahoe City on Nov. 13th at 6 p.m.
This is your chance to stand up and personally help in the efforts to save Lake Tahoe. A small community, the Friends of Tahoe Vista, is trying to set several precedents in the Federal Court in Sacramento to protect the Lake for generations to come. Your financial support is needed now. Here’s why:
• Lake clarity is not significantly improving, it at all
• Traffic is nearly intolerable in the summer months and during the high season in winter
• More condo developments and time-shares are being processed each month by TRPA, which, in our opinion, lacks the backbone to say, “No,” to the developers and land use planners.
It is time to stop complaining about the worsening traffic, poor lake clarity, and over-development while dozens of units sit empty and unsold on the market. Instead, please get behind the Friends of Tahoe Vista and join us in having a great dinner and drinks at a lovely and historic Tahoe City restaurant. If you are able, make a small but important financial donation to help us pay our legal staff that is supporting us by carrying this battle on in Federal Court.
• RSVP to: tahoellie@yahoo.com or Leah at (530) 386-2134
• Contact Ron Grassi, TASC Co-Conservation Chair at (530)583-3105 for further information
Guests can pay by cash or check at the door. Mailed donations should be made payable to Sierra Nevada Alliance,
the unbrella organization for several environmental groups at Lake Tahoe and addressed to Friends of Tahoe Vista,
