SATURDAY April 30 4:08 AM….
The Tahoe Basin has a nice weekend ahead of it.
The winds that raked the region Friday will subside today and temperatures will begin to warm a bit.
By Sunday a ridge of high pressure building over the west will push temperatures up another 5 to 10 degrees, back to normal for this time of year.
As for the week ahead, we might see a few fluctuations as low pressure systems pass to our north. But the overall trend will be warmer.

THURSDAY April 28 6:08 AM….
A ridge of high pressure over the west is breaking down t his morning as a cold front pushes toward the Sierra from the Pacific Northwest.
This system will drop temperatures Friday by 10 to 20 degrees below today’s highs. Winds with gusts of 50 mph or more are possible in and around the Tahoe Basin. Friday is definitely going to be a choppy day on the Lake.
Precipitation, meanwhile, will be light. Some snow showers are possible around the Basin, especially toward the north along the Interstate-80 corridor. We could even see some light accumulations near Donner Summit, but probably only an inch or two. Snow levels will drop to about 5000 feet on Friday.
Saturday will be cold and breezy behind the front but drier, and by Sunday a new ridge of high pressure will begin building over the area, bringing a warming trend and a return to seasonably normal temperatures.

WEDNESDAY April 27 7:38 AM….
Weak high pressure over the west will keep Tahoe mostly clear today, though a thin layer of clouds is beginning to move in ahead of the next cold front.
A low pressure system spreading south from the Gulf of Alaska is due to arrive Thursday, bringing gusty winds, colder temperatures and a chance of rain and snow late Thursday into Friday.
Temperatures Friday will be 10 to 20 degrees colder than Thursday. Winds should gust around 50 mph. And while there will not be a lot of precipitation with this system, we could see a dusting of snow. Snow levels will lower to about 5000 feet Thursday night.
By Saturday the system should be to the east of us, but temperatures will remain on the cool side.
