I hiked and skied up Judah on Saturday. The snow was funky and icy on the eastern slope. Things are corning up on the southern exposures.

Rode Tallac this morning (27th). Not as deep as Alpine Meadows/north shore but still good. Top of bowl off peak is still bony and I don't think the cross is going yet. I didn't go to actually peak and look in. I topped out to the lookers right of bowl.

Went Skating in the Donner Memorial State Park today. It is groomed and very close, fun, and free!!!! It is well worth checking out.

….low coverage, we walked in a few places. Winds were up to 40 mph loading East slopes near the ridges. Boot deep powder in the East Bowl of Silver Peak, although weather reports say it'll be waist deep in a day or two.

With our Squaw passes blacked out yesterday we decided to head up to Donner Summit and build a jump.  We parked at the top of old 40 and hiked out behind teh Sugar Bowl Ski Academy.  We found a little 15 foot cliff and built a lip off it.  The landing slid after the first person hit it, but there was still plenty of powder under the first layer that slid.  Becon, shovel and probes would have been essential if we had been skiing any big pitches or lines.  The snow pack is extremely unstable and I would recomend staying in bounds untill it warms up a bit.

Well, my dog Caesar and I went xcskiing out by Hobart Mills the other day.  Thought I'd explore somewhere new and somewhat close but remote.  Wow, the coverage out by Alder Creek was really thin. I think that's Alder Crk that runs into Prosser?  Anyways, we went out too late and instead of a good ski, it was more like a good punch thru the wet slop hike:)  But still a good workout…been running now that the streets are dry!

Hiked Tallac today (Tuesday).  We saw three sizeable slides around noon on the north bowl.  Snow is variable but there are definitely good turns to be had.  Get out early if you are hiking.
